Top Ways Advanced Drone Technology Is Changing the World

Advanced Drone Technology

When it comes to drones, most people think of military applications. Soldiers sitting in the safety of a room perhaps thousands of miles away from combat, flying drones into war zones to conduct sensitive military operations. While drones were first mainly used for military purposes, they are now used by drone enthusiasts and corporations. Even though you can buy a drone for personal use for just a few hundred dollars, the fact is, drones are still in their infancy when it comes to technology and mass adoption. That said, advanced drone technology is already changing the way businesses are operating and opens up a huge window of opportunity for investors. There are three types of drone companies: those developing the technologies; service providers using drones; and those looking to implement drones and make their businesses better. Most people look up at the sky when they think of drones. Amazon (NASDAQ/AMZN) has long been threatening to use drone technology to deliver groceries and products directly to your door. Uber is even looking at autonomous drones that you can hire to take you from point A to point B.1 Aerial drones used in delivery and aerial imagery are expected to take off. By 2025, aerial drones will generate an estimated $82 billion and create up to 100,000 jobs.2 Keep in mind, advanced drone technology means drone usage will not just be limited to the air. For example, Boeing (NYSE:BA) is working on submarine drones.3 Mars rovers are a great example of drone technology. In the not too distant future, we’ll see drones in the air, on land, under the water, and in space. Thanks to advanced drone technology, sensors are lighter and faster and batteries are more powerful, meaning they last longer and drones can carry heavier payloads. The more advanced drone technology expands, the more applications there will be. It can be difficult though to determine who the winners will be. After all, drones are already being used in agriculture, construction, real estate, applied sciences, law enforcement, media, mining, private security, search and rescue, and wildlife conservation. And new commercial applications for advanced drone technology are being adopted every day.
